The Mafia Princer next door

My name is Philip Leonetti, or I should I say that was my name.

For the last twenty years I have lived under a different name since my defection from the mob, or as we called it, La Cosa Nostra, which means this thing of ours in Italian.

My decision in 1989 to become the highest ranking member of La Cosa Nostra to break the sacred vow of omerta, the mafia's code of silence, has made me a marked man for the rest of my life.

As I write this, there is a reported $500,000 bounty on my head to anyone who can find me and kill me.

Today I am 59 years old and living far away from the Atlantic City Boardwalk I once controlled with my uncle, a man named Nicodemo Scarfo.

Back then they called us "Little Nicky" and "Crazy Phil."

Murder, loan-sharking, extortion, beatings, illegal gambling, you name it, we did it all.

We were the real Boardwalk Empire. Movies like The Godfather, Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale and Casino and television shows like The Sopranos have offered dramatic interpretations of our life, but my life wasn't a movie, or a TV show; it was the real thing.

One time, my uncle used me as a decoy to help him following a murder that he had just committed.

As we were driving in the pick-up truck that had just been used to transport the dead man's body to a freshly dug hole in the woods where he was buried, my uncle told me what he had done and why he had done it. read more    http://.com/philip-leonetti/mafia-prince-next-door_b_2280929.htmlwww.huffingtonpost

Mobster Jerry Scalise hit with 8 1/2 year sentence

August 29, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- One of Chicago's most notorious mobsters was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday. But Jerry Scalise's sentence wasn't as long as it could have been.
In this Intelligence Report: Why a federal judge did a favor for Scalise's lawyer.
At the age of 74, Outfit legend Jerry "The Monk" Scalise has what federal prosecutors call an "unbroken history of criminal conduct." So, Scalise wouldn't seem to qualify for favors or special treatment by the justice system. But, Wednesday, that is just what he received when his lawyer asked for a favor in open court; and, even more surprising, received it.
Even as he was a special consultant on the Johnny Depp film about Dillinger, federal authorities say Jerry Scalise was plotting crimes for the Chicago Outfit.
The FBI had Scalise and his burglary crew under surveillance, and in 2010, the trio was arrested in mid-scheme. Scalise pleaded guilty to planning the take down of an armored car and a break-in at the home of a deceased Outfit boss read rest http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/iteam&id=8791434

Italy politicians accused of making deals with mob - Los Angeles Local News, Weather, and Traffic

ROME (AP) - Italian news reports say prosecutors in Sicily are seeking to put a handful of ex-ministers, lawmakers and law enforcement officials on trial for allegedly making deals with the Mafia during a bloody spasm of attacks against the state in the early 1990s.

The ANSA news agency and Repubblica newspaper said prosecutors signed a request Tuesday for a judge to indict 12 people, including jailed Mafia bosses Salvatore "Toto" Riina and Bernardo Provenzano.

Riina headed the Cosa Nostra during the era of its all-out attack on the state, which culminated with back-to-back car bombings in 1992 that killed two leading anti-Mafia prosecutors.

Citing the indictment request, Repubblica said some of the accused ex-government officials negotiated with the mob or exerted pressure to lighten their prison sentences. They have denied wrongdoing.

Report: Vito Rizzuto Plots His Return--Friends of ours

Reputed Montreal Mafia boss Vito Rizzuto will avenge the murders of son Nick and father Nicola upon his release from prison in October 2012 according to a friend of ours"jailhouse source as reported by Brad Hamilton for the New York Post: "he's been eating vegetarian, staying fit, sharpening his mind with games of pinochle — and the plotting of his coup, our source said

Vito Rizzuto currently is serving time at the supermax facility in Florence, CO on a 2007 racketeering conviction involving the 1981 New York City murders of three Bonanno capos during an internal power struggle, and during his incarceration all hell broke loose in Montreal.

Some suspect that a turf battle over the drug trade between clans from the 'Ndrangheta or Calabrian Mafia and the Rizzuto clan from Cosa Nostra or the Sicilian Mafia is responsible for the ongoing violence.

Last November former Bonanno boss Salvatore Montagna was whacked after perhaps allying himself with 'Ndrangheta clans in NYC and Quebec, and some reputed Rizzuto associates are among those charged with the murder.

The 'Ndrangheta has become Italy's most powerful Mafia group due to its obscene profits from the cocaine trade in Europe, and it further has become entrenched in Australia, Canada and the United States with surprisingly little push back from law enforcement in those countries

Having a modern and trendy appearance was starting to be crucial you both men and women.

Restructured Matches
Men’s suits were being restructured in the 1930s to provide an exploration that featured a larger than normal torso and squared off, padded shoulders. This newly tailored effect gave men an imposing silhouette. Double breasted jackets with shiny buttons turned into a status symbol and men rushed to buy them. Even very inexpensive suits chose to give out these new, sharp lines that held like an appeal to males throughout the country.

Hollywood Mafia Mobsters Henry Hill: If Ferris is a wise guy he’ll leave the country when movie comes out.. in case he gets whacked

GOODFELLAS mobster Henry Hill has warned former gangster Friend of ours Paul Ferris to FLEE Scotland after his movie biopic is released.
Legendary Mafia hood Hill reckons Ferris could face revenge attacks, just like he has since the hit movie about him was released in 1990.

Hill, 68, spent over a decade fearing that he would be whacked after his shady story became a Hollywood blockbuster.

Goodfellas told how 'wise guy' Hill — played by Ray Liotta — became an FBI grass and eventually brought down his own mob.

He had to be given a new identity and placed on the witness protection programme.

There was a whopping £1million contract out on Hill's head — and he's only recently started making public appearances.

Now Hill has advised Glasgow's former underworld enforcer Ferris, 48, to take time out for his own safety when controversial flick The Wee Man hits cinemas.

Speaking exclusively to The Scottish Sun, Hill said: "He'll have to be guarded for sure — he should come to America and live.

"It's important for him to stay on the straight and narrow path.

"That way, everything will be okay and it'll all work itself out.

"He has to be cool and not let it get to his head.

"It's going to be a strange process and he'll probably be able to tell you about it ten years from now.

"He should go and see the world after it comes out."

The Wee Man is currently being filmed in London after Strathclyde cops banned it from Glasgow. The flick, which stars Martin Compston as Ferris, chronicles the hardman's feuds with a string of notorious Glasgow gangland figures.

Hill, who now lives in Malibu, California, added: "Life changed immensely for me and it will for him, too.

"I went from being a gangster to a Goodfella, making movies. It was surreal what happened.

"People wanted to talk to me all the time, and get to know me.

"I don't consider myself a celebrity and at times it was a pain in the ass. But overall, it was cool."

There are similarities in the stories of Hill and Ferris — who are arguably their respective countries' most famous ex-cons.

And he reckons he's only safe to do so because most of his enemies from the time are now dead.
